Friday Morning Activities Requiring Pre-Registration

Cost:  $15 – Pedaling for Polio Ride to Treasure Island

    Ride begins at 10 a.m., March 24 from Hotel Shattuck, conference hotel.

Cost:  Free – International Peace Grove, Tilden Park

    Attendees should plan to be at Inspiration Point in Tilden park at 9AM, which requires they provide their own transportation to that point.  The Park Service will provide transport out to the Peace Grove itself for up to 80 attendees.

Cost:  $5.00 – UC Berkeley Tour – 90 minutes

Begins at 10:30 at the west entrance to campus at Oxford and Center Streets. Meet at the UC Berkeley sign or in the lobby of the Shattuck Hotel at 10:15.

Cost:  $20.00 – Gourmet Ghetto Tour

Meets at Poulet, 1685 Shattuck Ave at 9am. Hour lecture, tour and book signing, ending midday
Tour ends at 12 noon. Cost is $20 donated to the Berkeley Food and Housing Project. Limit is 30 people.

Summer of Love Party with Hands On Backpack Project

6:30 – 7:30 p.m.                   Hands on backpack project to benefit CASA children ages 5-8 in District 5160.

PUSH600 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.   “Summer of Love Party”with Channel 7 anchor Dan Ashley and the PUSH band

Cost:  $20.00 – SPONSOR A BACKPACK for the Friday night hands on project: Rotarians are raising money to provide 1000 backpacks to benefit children in the CASA program living in District 5160.  This includes a Chico brand backpack, with teddy bear, blanket, coloring book, crayons and dental kit.

CASA.Rotary.Backpac600kCASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created  to make sure that the abuse and neglect these children suffered at home doesn’t continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. The backpack you furnish will be given to one of the CASA programs in the district and distributed to a child in foster care between 5 and 8 years old. This backpack may contain their only personal belongings. You will help to make a difference in a child’s life .
